The Tentacled Monkey

So on Tuesday the 24th this website did something rather unexpected. It had 397 page views and 89 unique visitors. For a backwater hole in the wall site that averages about 15 page views a day from about 5 unique visitors, this got me very intrigued. So on Wednesday the 25th when I knew that Google Analytics would have a more clear picture of the issue at hand I took a look.

Evidently, this site’s traffic is mainly generated from two things:

1. the few Linux posts I have that are actually almost sorta popular &
2. the fact that I have “tentacle” in my site name

OK, the first might be obvious, now for the second. On Tuesday the 24th must have been fetish Tuesday because A LOT of the traffic was generated by Google searches for “tentacle”, “tentacles”, “tentacle sex”, “furry sex”, and I could go on and on but seriously we get the picture. Yes the majority of this site’s traffic is due to somewhat demented, more than likely perverted, people looking for fetish sex with tentacles or with furries. (BTW, if you don’t know what furry sex is which most of the readers should since evidently they are looking for it, just Google it. It is quite strange and funny.)

So I am riding on the coat tails of porn. This got me thinking and I looked through the image gallery to find the most popular photos. Guess what? They were the ones with tentacles in them. Starting to see a pattern here? Yeah it is fucking awesome in its sheer amazingness.

So with this post I am going to perform a little experiment. I am going to tag this post with mostly tentacle/furry references and then wait a coule days for Google to grep it. Then I want to see if it has affected the stats at all. I will probably add in a new image to this post as well just to help a little bit.
