Another comment is the reason I used Unetbootin. The reason was that the other software I looked at insisted on creating a FAT partition and the persistence would be a single file stored in the FAT partition. Due to limitations of the FAT partition, the maximum size of the persistent file was 4 gig.

I got Unetbootin to create a couple of flash drives which I tweaked to be persistent. My ISO was Ubuntu CE (Christian Edition). The way I did it was edit the menu to pass the word persistent to the kernal and I created a 6 gig casper-rw partition (flash was a 8 gig SanDisk Cruzer) Once booted up it works very well.

The reason I used Ubuntu CE was for the DansGuardian preinstalled, since I was making it for a couple of kids who wanted to play around with Linux.

The only problem with them was the slow bootup. (Once I passed the persistence keyword to the kernal) I slip over to another terminal during bootup and watch was going on and I seen it searching every device on the computer. My theory is that it was searching for the casper-rw partition and booted up just fine once it discovered it. All I need to do is to figure out a way for it to find the casper-rw quickly. On some computers the bootup takes just over 5 minutes.

Ya'll both suck!
Due to the fact that I'm stuck with T-Mobile, my "Droid" is called a "CliQ" but even so, it still beats a WinMo to pieces!

CliQ has the distinction of being the Droid's illegitimate daddy, since it is the first Motorola to run android!

Still the CliQ is a great phone, I get bars in places that were dead before.

I do miss my iPhone but since becoming non responsive to my touch (reminicent of a few of my ex-wives), I alienated it so to speak!

Murf, I love mine! I got it just last night (Nov 20, 2009) - and other than some issues with setting up the SMTP servers for my POP3 accounts (stupid human trick) everything is cooly.

On battery life... The DROID is a hungry critter if you keep WI-FI and GPS enabled. I highly recommend installing a task killer app to zot stuff quickly. Several are available, so still testing.

The still camera is.. well.. meh (at best). Barely better quality than my 2 year old Razr. Good thing I didn't buy it for that, though it would have been a nice topper to an otherwise brilliant device. :) I hear the video capture is pretty good, though, and WILL be testing soon.

P.S.
I do agree about the physical keyboard. kinda.. odd.
