What started out as a joke has turned into a full blown website for all of those people who think they are Vikings at heart. The deal is that during a dream I found Odin still hanging fro Yggdrasil and asked what gives? he explained that some strange Flying Spaghetti Monster hung him there as a joke and now he can’t get down. This evidently led to the eventually decline and scattering of Norsemen worldwide. Odin wants down and we can help buy simply commenting at The Church of the Misplaced Norsemen and lending our prayers for his release.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have not been around much lately for a couple of different reasons. Mainly due to a health issue that demanded to take center stage, but also due to my wife’s continuing pregnancy. I apologize for not posting more often, to all 14 of you subscribers out there and hope to get back into the full swing of things again soon.
As a side note I added a News Page to the site that is tied to my Google Reader account. So when I find a cool article it will show up there. As I can go through hundreds of articles a day at least something is bound to show up in there worth mentioning. I am not entirely happy with the formatting yet and it may go through some more versions before I find a scheme that I like, so beware.

When I was younger I was a surrealist. I played the games and had a lot of fun doing them. The best was just writing freeform straight from brain to page as fast as I could catch it. All of that is gone now, but I figured why not try it all again? Well it turns out that once you stop thinking in that way and you stop thinking that way, and you are no longer surrounded by the people that actually enjoyed doing it also, that it is really fucking hard to think like that again.
So instead of sitting, here forcing myself to attempt and do it, I am going to wait until the time is right for me. So I will leave you with the lonely promise that some stream of consciousness will be getting dumped on here at some point.
The surreal posts will all fall under the Surreal Writings page. Each exercise type will likely be a sub-page of that.

So on Tuesday the 24th this website did something rather unexpected. It had 397 page views and 89 unique visitors. For a backwater hole in the wall site that averages about 15 page views a day from about 5 unique visitors, this got me very intrigued. So on Wednesday the 25th when I knew that Google Analytics would have a more clear picture of the issue at hand I took a look.
Evidently, this site’s traffic is mainly generated from two things:
- the few Linux posts I have that are actually almost sorta popular &
- the fact that I have “tentacle” in my site name
OK, the first might be obvious, now for the second. On Tuesday the 24th must have been fetish Tuesday because A LOT of the traffic was generated by Google searches for “tentacle”, “tentacles”, “tentacle sex”, “furry sex”, and I could go on and on but seriously we get the picture. Yes the majority of this site’s traffic is due to somewhat demented, more than likely perverted, people looking for fetish sex with tentacles or with furries. (BTW, if you don’t know what furry sex is which most of the readers should since evidently they are looking for it, just Google it. It is quite strange and funny.)
So I am riding on the coat tails of porn. This got me thinking and I looked through the image gallery to find the most popular photos. Guess what? They were the ones with tentacles in them. Starting to see a pattern here? Yeah it is fucking awesome in its sheer amazingness.
So with this post I am going to perform a little experiment. I am going to tag this post with mostly tentacle/furry references and then wait a coule days for Google to grep it. Then I want to see if it has affected the stats at all. I will probably add in a new image to this post as well just to help a little bit.

Well I finally got off my duff and got the tentacled-monkey.com domain name and another web host. I have to say thanks to the guys at 24shells.net for making it the simplest and easiest yet!

As you may have noticed I completely changed the blog to Tentacled Monkey. What is a tentacled monkey? Hell I don’t know but it sounds demented! This is going to be my primary stomping ground from now on and I would like to invite you to join on a romp through the weird and tech savvy.
The more I play with the Blogger interface, the more I really am enjoying it. I have also started using the Windows Live Writer program from Micro$oft, and must admit that it is a very useful piece of software.

So I am slowly coming to terms with the fact that the domain is going away, but this leaves me in a weird spot. I very haven’t not had a domain in a very long time. But seeing as how I am attempting to be cheap, I figure I can use a free domain – I already have one, themurfman.is-a-geek.com, for that matter – and Blogger. The real reason is for the outlet and to play. If I have my Linux box and CLI then I am really happy there.
Anyway, life moves on I suppose. Maybe someone can actually make use of the damn domain and do something with it. Cthulhu knows I couldn’t.
